Full story transcript
Maha chose a generous patch of white to draw clouds above a mountain visible from her window in Abha. When she sat down to begin her mountain painting, the sky looked different from what she had imagined, and the page stayed empty for a long moment.
Saad asked whether she could draw what she saw instead of what she had expected. Maha noticed shades of gray and soft edges, recording the time so she would remember this was one scene, not a permanent description of the city.
When the light changed, she did not erase her first drawing. She began another page and left room for her friend's words beside the colors, making the notebook about change rather than a perfect image.
That evening she showed her mother both pages and said her plan had not worked as expected, but her observation had improved. She put away the white color; it would have another day and another story.
