After a family walk along the Red Sea in Jeddah, Omar brought Hala a drawing of the water. Its color differed from her drawing of the same place. We have a mystery, he said, but we need not take anything from the shore to solve it.
Omar wrote the time of his walk and his viewing place on cards, then asked Hala about her observations. They found that she had drawn in different light and from another angle; different colors did not mean one of them was wrong.
A friend suggested adding a real shell to the display of their drawings, but Omar chose a description of the waves' movement. Hala said a scene grows richer through words, not through objects taken from their habitats.
Omar gathered the drawings on a page titled What We Notice and When. He wrote that comparing conditions had explained his small mystery, while other questions about the sea needed reliable sources rather than confident guesses.
