Khalid wrote a question for a family game in Dhahran and folded a paper stand for it. As soon as he added the card, the stand toppled. He leaned it against his cup, but his sister asked, “What happens when we need the cup?” Khalid looked at the paper again.
He called Dana to describe what had happened, and she suggested comparing two bases. He and his sister folded a wider one and tested it with the same card on the same table. It stayed upright, but the words leaned too far back to read easily.
They adjusted the fold a little and each sat where a different player would sit. Now both could read the card. That evening, his father asked who had made the stand. “My sister and me, with a question from Dana!” Khalid said, placing the first model beside his notebook of attempts.
