Full story transcript
Hessa spread a large sheet on the table and covered it with paper trees and yellow flowers. When her brother tried to move a toy cart through them, it stopped at the first bend. Hessa looked at the garden, then at the narrow path she had left.
I could take away this flower, she said. Her brother suggested moving a tree first. They shifted it towards the edge, making room along the path. Hessa kept her favourite flower, and the tiny bench in the middle was now easy to reach.
Hessa drew the new path in her notebook and invited the other dolls into the garden. The cart rolled through easily, with room left for another tree. Beneath the drawing she wrote a question for her next garden: who will visit, and how will they get there?
