Ghalia made a card for each relative, then remembered that her youngest cousin could not read yet. She put down her pen and thought of something they could share.
During the visit she sat beside him and drew a circle. He added two ears, turning it into a cat. They laughed and finished the picture together, choosing a green border like their grandmother’s doorway.
Ghalia kept a copy in her Eid album and wrote both their names beneath it. The card she had not finished alone became her favourite.
